November is National Adoption Month and this display will showcase forty children in the foster care system who cannot return to their birth families and need forever families to adopt them. There are nearly 10,000 children in the foster care system in Arizona and this display also brings awareness to the need for more foster homes, so that children will not need to wait in shelters or group homes. To date, 50% of the children highlighted in Arizona Heart Gallery have found forever homes. These are usually children who will statistically age out of the foster care system because they are older or because they are part of a sibling group. While most children spend their free time at a local park or going on a family vacation, children in foster care wonder who, if anyone, will take the time to get to know them as unique individuals, full of the same hopes and dreams as other children. Greater collaborative efforts are being made across the state to find permanent, loving homes for these children.
